Community

With a new philosophy, community policing, the community and law enforcement agencies work together to address crime and terror in the local region. Community policing is the organization of partnerships and problem-solving to address crime and terrorism. It consists of 3 elements including community partnerships, organizational transformation, and problem solving.

Community Partnerships involves collaboration between law enforcement, individuals and organizations to develop solutions to problems and increase trust in police. These agencies can vary from government agencies, community leaders, private sector businesses, media and non-profits.

The organizational transformation is the alignment of management, structure, personnel and information systems to support the community collaboration and problem solving. Some instances of organization transformation include agency management, geographic assignment of officers, personnel and information technology systems.

And last but not least, problem solving is the process of examination of problems to develop and evaluate effective responses.  The key steps in problem solving are scanning, analysis, response, assessment and focusing on immediate conditions.
